Celebrating Aam Aadmi Party's convincing lead towards victory in the Delhi Assembly polls, the party's poll strategist Prashant Kishor thanked Delhi saying that it has stood up to the "soul of India".

Kishor was recently shunted out from the Janata Dal (United) which is the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) ally in the National Democratic Alliance. The JD(U) and BJP fought the Delhi poll as one, following the former taking a pro CAA stand.

Kishor’s role in the election strategies for AAP came to be at the time when Shaheen Bagh in New Delhi saw the anti-CAA protests intensifying during the winter chill.

The BJP has consistently objected to the anti CAA protests taking place at Shaheen Bagh.

Kishor’s congratulatory tweet seems in line with comments from members and supporters of the winning party and commentary in the media, where it was being said that Delhi has rejected polarisation.

The trends shape interestingly for areas where the anti-CAA protests took a violent and intense turn.

In Okhla, as per ECI website, at the time of writing, AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan’s vote share stood at 82.21 per cent. His opponent from the BJP Braham Singh was trailing at 13.82 per cent vote.

In Ballimaran, as per the ECI website, AAP candidate Imran Hussain was ahead securing 62 per cent vote share against BJP candidate Lata, who stood at 29.03 per cent.

In Matia Mahal, Shoaib Iqbal of AAP secured an impressive 75.96 per cent vote share. Ravinder Gupta, the BJP candidate, was at 19 per cent vote share.

As per ECI website, at the time of writing, in Seelampur, AAP's Abdul Rehman was leading with 56 per cent votes. Chaudhary Mateen Ahmad of Congress was on the third spot with 15.61 per cent votes and BJP's Kaushal Kumar Mishra at 27.58 per cent.

Right before the polls it was being said on social media that the polarisation resulting from Shaheen Bagh protests and the opposition to them would benefit the BJP.

Quite the opposite seems to have happened.

AAP clearly has achieved success and there are strong hints that it got rewarded for BJP's opposition to the anti-CAA protests.
