Delhi-Meerut RRTS To Become Operational By Year-End As Construction Proceeds At Fast Pace: Report
NCRTC constructs spans in a section of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor.
Delhi-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) is set to commence operations by the end of this year, while the 17km section from Sahibabad to Duhai Depot has already been operational since October 2023.
The next stretch from Duhai Depot to Meerut South is 25 km long and is expected to open for commuters in the coming months. In phase 3, a 14 km stretch between Sahibabad and Sarai Kale Khan will be made operational.
According to The Times of India, the stations at Sarai Kale Khan, New Ashok Nagar, and Anand Vihar are almost complete and 90 per cent of the elevated section has been completed. The underground tunnel's construction is also complete.
Sarai Kale Khan station is set to provide multi-modal connectivity as it will be the only station in the RRTS network from where commuters can board trains going in different directions for Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut, Delhi-SNB and Delhi-Panipat corridors.
The Anand Vihar station will integrate six modes of transportation., while the New Ashok Nagar station will provide connectivity to residents around it and the Noida people in the direction of Meerut. Jangpura station will be developed later.
Swarajya reported earlier that civil construction work at Meerut South, Partapur, Rithani and Shatabdi Nagar stations is in the final stages and currently finishing work is in progress.
In the Meerut section, the length of the corridor from Meerut South RRTS station to Modipuram depot is 23 km, of which 18 km is elevated, while the rest is underground.
