UP CM Yogi Adityanath.

The Yogi Adityanath-led government in Uttar Pradesh is not only empowering the daily delivery of milk to the people of the state, but has also ensured that the population of cows, monkeys, and street dogs does not go hungry during the Covid-19 lock down.

Adityanath government has given the responsibility of the task to principal secretary, diaries and animal husbandry department, Bhuwanesh Kumar, who monitors the flow of the milk chain between the state's rural areas and urban areas.

Kumar does it with a network of coordination between his field staff. He also receives videos on his phone from different areas on his mobile phone from the foot soldiers of his staff and NGOs engaged in the feeding of the stray animals.

Adityanath has also set up a round the clock control room at the office of the additional production commissioner for the supervision of the operation. According to a report in the Times of India, there are five lakh cows and over 1.50 lakh street dogs and almost an equal number of monkeys to be fed.

Adityanath makes a point during the daily meeting with the officers to ask about the well being of the cows. He asks Kumar, "Gai theek hain?"

Adityanath has also worked towards the setting of cow sheds. Over 17,000 men from private and government sectors are involved in the doorstep delivery across the state.

Kumar, who has earlier handled tough curfew situations in Muzaffarnagar, Aligarh and Meerut for his assignments, is using his past experience in giving an edge to his work in the utterly demanding Covid-19 situation.

Kumar is using his communication with the home department and district authorities to ensure that the movement of people carrying milk cans between rural and urban areas is not restricted. This is a huge relief for milkmen whose produce is reaching people of the vast state even during these difficult times.
