News Brief
Union Agriculture Minister Arjun Munda
Union Agriculture Minister Arjun Munda has emphasised the importance of thorough consultation with all stakeholders before enacting a law guaranteeing Minimum Support Price (MSP) on crops.
He has urged protesting farmer groups to engage in structured discussions with the Government to address the issue effectively according to a report from The Hindu.
In a recent interview with PTI on 13 February, Munda also advised protesting farmers to remain vigilant against elements that may seek to exploit their movement for political gain.
Munda, who is part of the ministerial delegation that engaged in two rounds of discussions with farmer groups, including Samyukta Kisan Morcha and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha in Chandigarh, acknowledged progress on several demands but noted that certain issues remain unresolved.
Despite this, talks are ongoing, with efforts aimed at finding common ground.
Munda has stated, "In the two rounds of discussions, we agreed to many of their demands. But there was no agreement on certain issues. The talks are still on."
