'Fascist DMK Cannot Silence...': TN BJP Chief Annamalai After Police Book Him Over Post On Woman's Murder On Poll Day In Cuddalore District

Tamil Nadu BJP chief K Annamalai on Monday (22 April) said that the state government has filed an FIR against him for 'exposing' the truth about the post-poll death of a 45-year-old woman from Pakkirimaniyam village in Cuddalore district.
The Srimushnam police on Monday (22 April) filed a case against the Tamil Nadu BJP president on charges of posting ‘misleading ’ content on his handle on X, formerly Twitter.
A separate case was filed against Annamalai under three sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for posting false message on his handle, The Hindu reported citing police sources.
Annamalai in his post on X Corp on Sunday (21 April) had alleged that the victim Gomathy was beaten to death by DMK men for voting BJP during the polling in Cuddalore district.
In his latest post on X on Monday, Annamalai said, "I understand that the Fascist DMK Govt has filed an FIR on my name for exposing the truth about Smt Gomathi’s murder by DMK Goons".
Annamalai also posted a video, in which the BJP TN chief said, Gomathi’s husband and her relatives confirmed that "it wasn’t some previous enmity, and the real reason is that she voted for the BJP, which led to her being beaten up by DMK Goons".
The Srimushnam police has filed a case under Sections 153 (wantonly giving provocation with intent to cause riot), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace), and 505 (statements conducing to public mischief) of the IPC.
"Fascist DMK cannot silence our voices by filing frivolous cases such as these, as many cases, including the ones filed by TN CM Thiru M K Stalin, have been filed against us for being the voice of the people & for exposing the truth," he said.
"Thiru M K Stalin, the day of your ouster is not far. File as many cases as you want; we won't compromise & budge!," Annamalai said.
Earlier, in a statement, the Cuddalore District Police, had claimed that a dispute had broken out between two groups in Srimushnam on 19 April, the polling day in Tamil Nadu, over withdrawal of a case.
During the altercation, the woman, Gomathi, intervened to calm the situation but ended up being pushed down and sustaining severe injuries. She succumbed to her injuries while being taken to the hospital, according to the police.
In response to the incident, the Srimushnam Police registered a case under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Prevention of Atrocities against Women Act against 10 people, of which five have been arrested.
