The National Board for Wildlife (NBWL) approved five important projects for Assam including Chapaguri to Amteka Assam Mala project Road, which goes up to the Bhutan border.

NBWL is the apex body in India for all wildlife-related matters and its approval for an elevated corridor near Kaziranga National Park makes Union Minister Nitin Gadkari's promise a reality.

The other three approved projects are the Guwahati Ring Road project including the Narengi-Kurua Bridge, Deepar Beel Railway Elevated Corridor and Deepar Beel Elevated Railway Corridor.

Responding to this approval, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed his "deep personal gratitude" to Union Forest and Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav and said, "Assam is on the rise."
