At its 32nd meeting held on 28 February 2023, the Goa Investment Promotion Board (Goa IPB) cleared six project proposals with a proposed investment of Rs 310 crore.

The meeting was chaired by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, who is also the chairperson of the IPB. The approved projects are expected to generate over 2,500 jobs in the state.

The six industries which received the IPB nod, includes a mini-India theme park at Pernem in North Goa.

This development is proposed close to the Manohar International Airport in Mopa as additional upgradation, which will be developed by the leading Pune-based property developers Bramhacorp.

The theme park is envisaged to be the first of its kind in India.

The planned theme park will showcase eco-friendly miniature replicas of significant national monuments, as well as a cultural village where visitors can experience traditional folk dances, festivals, and a variety of spices and cuisine.

The other projects approved by IPB includes — mussel cultivation on Goa's coastline, electrical motors manufacturing, BlueMonk Ventures distillery, an asphalt production plant, and a packaging company.

The mussel farming project will be carried out with the engagement of the local fishermen communities, creating new job opportunities and introducing them to new technologies and systems which will cater to the export market.

Following the meeting, the State Industries Minister, Mauvin Godinho, stated that the government is promoting exclusively clean and non-polluting industries.

He added that some companies with foreign collaboration are also eager to set up their industries in Goa.

Additionally, a logistics draft policy based on inputs from GMR Airports, Konkan Railway, Mormugao Port Authority and industry bodies will be sent to the cabinet for final approval.

The GMR Group had proposed to upgrade the airport facility by creating Aerocity and Amusement Park after the operations began at the Mopa airport.

GMR president and CEO, Ranganathan Venkata Sheshan recently stated that Goa being a tourist destination, they propose to build an Aerocity with the concept of destination airport in the state.

With the approval given to these six projects, the IPB has so far granted in principle approval to 242 projects.
