Gujarat Aims To Contribute 10 Per Cent To India's GDP And Become $500 Billion Economy By 2026-27: CM Bhupendra Patel

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has set forth an ambitious goal for the state, aspiring to contribute 10 per cent to India's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and achieve a $500 billion economy by the fiscal year 2026-27.
In an exclusive interview with PTI ahead of the tenth Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit, Patel emphasised Gujarat's significant role in the country's economic landscape.
As reported by Economic Times, despite having just 5 per cent of the nation's population, Gujarat presently contributes 8.3 per cent to the national GDP.
Patel highlighted the state's economic prowess, noting that Gujarat accounted for an impressive 33 per cent of India's total merchandise exports in the previous year.
The Chief Minister also expressed confidence in Gujarat's strategic focus on sectors that shape the global future, including semiconductors, green hydrogen, electric vehicles, and renewable energy.
Gujarat's journey towards economic prosperity has been remarkable, witnessing a 16-fold increase in the Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) over the last two decades.
The Chief Minister highlighted the state's policy-driven approach, investor-friendly environment, and robust industrial infrastructure as key factors making Gujarat a preferred investment destination.
Patel highlighted the state's efforts to take the concept of Vibrant Gujarat to the grassroots, promoting participation and potential investments in districts across the state.
