A large number of devotees are visiting the Ayodhya Ram Mandir on Tuesday after it opened for the public, a day after 'Pran Pratishtha' of Ramlalla in the sanctum sanctorum of the temple.

With the influx of such huge number of devotees, top UP government officials including the principal secretary and Special DGP (law and order) are present in the sanctum sanctorum of the temple to oversee the situation.

UP Principal Secretary, Home, Sanjay Prasad and Special DG Law and Order, Prashant Kumar are present inside the 'Garbha Griha' of the temple, to monitor the orderly movement of devotees, news agency ANI reported.

Earlier on Tuesday morning, ahead of the opening of the temple for public, massive crowds were seen in front of the temple.

Devotees began gathering at the temple in large numbers as early as 3 am even though Ayodhya was engulfed in a dense fog.

The gates will open to the public from 7.00 am to 11.30 am and then again from 2.00 pm to 7.00 pm.

The 'pran pratishtha' rituals of Ramlalla were carried out yesterday with PM Modi as the mukhya (chief) yajmaan of the ceremony.

The ceremony witnessed the presence of dignitaries, including Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, and RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat.

After the pran pratishtha ceremony, PM Modi offered prayers at the Kuber Tila Shiva Temple, which is located in the Ram Temple premises in Ayodhya.

PM Modi performed ‘jalabhishek’ and did a ‘parikrama’ of the Shiva temple.

He also unveiled a statue of ‘Jatayu’ at the Ram Temple.
