The INDI opposition alliance is set to convene a crucial strategy meeting in New Delhi today (19 December).

As reported by NDTV, the agenda includes discussing seat-sharing agreements, developing a collective campaign strategy for the 2024 general elections, and reassessing their action plan in light of their recent losses in the assembly elections held in three major Hindi-speaking states.

Just a day before the massive opposition gathering, an astonishing 78 opposition party Members of Parliament (MPs) were suspended from both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.

This occurred amidst fervent protests demanding answers for the security breach in Parliament that took place the previous week.

Before the significant opposition gathering, Chief Minister Banerjee announced that the prime ministerial candidate for the 2024 elections from the INDIA bloc would be selected only post-elections.

She addressed internal conflicts such as disputes over seat-sharing, reaffirming the alliance's steadfast commitment to overcoming the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

The head of the Trinamool Congress (TMC), dismissed any notions that the opposition alliance had been slow to prepare for the 2024 elections, stating, "It's better late than never."

She hinted at a possible tripartite alliance involving her party, Congress, and the Left in West Bengal.

The recent triumphs of the BJP in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh have escalated the strain on the opposition to form a unified front.

The near complete defeat of the Congress in the Hindi heartland could compel them to rethink their strategy.

The initial meeting of the INDIA bloc took place in Patna on 23 June, followed by a second meeting in Bengaluru on 17-18 July.

The third meeting was held in Mumbai, spanning from 31 August to 1 September.
