Fulfilling the aspiration of people of Bijnor for better rail connectivity, Indian Railways has given nod for the final survey of 63.5 km long new line connecting Meerut-Hastinapur-Bijnor.
The proposed new line in the Indian rail network is expected to be beneficial for developing Hastinapur as a tourism and pilgrimage hub boosting the economic activities in the region.
The ministry has sanctioned the final location survey of the Meerut-Hastinapur-Bijnor new rail line at an estimated cost of Rs 15,875,000.
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, who visited Bijnor and Dhampur in western Uttar Pradesh last week, had promised the people of the region for a fast decision on the survey of the Meerut-Hastinapur-Bijnor new rail line.
Giving the green signal in a record time, the railways envisages that the new rail line would facilitate the towns of Hastinapur and Bijnor to get better rail connectivity to major cities through the Indian Railways network.
Bijnor is a major sugar producing region of India. The new line will enhance marketing and travel opportunities for the people.
Hastinapur is the ancient town finding mention in the epic Mahabharata. Better travel facilities will also be helpful in developing the region as a tourist and pilgrimage hub.
