'Infrastructure Projects Worth Rs 8 Lakh Crore Underway In The State': Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde

Outlining the plan for the next three to four years, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced on Thursday (7 March) that infrastructure projects worth Rs 8 lakh crore are currently underway in the state.
During the launch of a coffee table book titled "Infrastructure Development in Maharashtra — Maharashtrachya Vikasvata" by Loksatta, Shinde highlighted the significance of ongoing infrastructure projects in enhancing the state's standard of living.
He emphasised that these initiatives would not only improve residents' quality of life but also attract increased investment.
Shinde pointed out that despite facing hurdles during the tenure of the Maha Vikas Aghadi government, the current alliance of Bharatiya Janata Party, Nationalist Congress Party, and Shiv Sena has accelerated development and successfully cleared obstacles in infrastructure projects.

He specifically mentioned landmark projects like the Atal Setu, Samrudhi Expressway, and sea link as potential game-changers.
Shinde also emphasised Maharashtra's pivotal role as the engine of India's development and expressed confidence that the state would contribute significantly to India's goal of becoming the world's third-largest economy with a gross domestic product of $5 trillion.
Looking ahead, Shinde outlined plans for the next three to four years, including the operationalisation of nearly 200 kilometres of Metro rail in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, which, along with Metro-3, is expected to reduce traffic congestion by removing 25 to 30 lakh vehicles from the roads.
Additionally, he announced the creation of a network of 7,000-km fast-communication expressways across the state.
