Militants have ambushed an Army vehicle near Dehra Ki Gali in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district. The Army has placed the area under cordon following the attack.
A spokesperson from the Defense department reported that an ongoing encounter is taking place following an intelligence-based operation initiated by the army in the area.
"The army launched a joint operation in the general area of DKG last night based on solid intelligence. Contact has been established today evening, and the encounter is currently in progress. Further details are being ascertained," stated the spokesperson.
Between April and May of the current year, twin attacks resulted in the death of 10 soldiers in the Rajouri-Poonch region. This area had experienced a significant absence of terrorism from 2003 to 2021, after which frequent encounters began occurring.
Over the past two years, more than 35 soldiers have lost their lives in action during anti-terror operations in the region.
