News Brief
Anjanadri Hill
The Karnataka government has announced a Rs 100 crore development plan for increasing tourism in in Anjanadri hill, renowned as the birth place of Lord Hanuman.
The announcement was made by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah while presenting the 2024-25 budget in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly.
He emphasised the religious significance of Anjanadri hill and its environs in Koppal district.
The initiative reportedly builds upon a previous plan outlined by former chief minister Basavaraj Bommai in the February 2023 budget, which aimed to develop Anjanadri hill and its surroundings with basic amenities for tourists at an estimated cost of Rs 100 crore.
Named after Lord Hanuman's mother Anjana, Anjanadri Hill is situated in Koppal district near Anegundi, bordering the Tungabhadra River. The place holds significance for devotees of Lord Hanuman, who visit here in large numbers.
Further, it also offers beautiful sunset views, landscapes and the flowing Tungbhadra river.
While delivering the state budget, CM Siddaramaiah also highlighted the construction of residential complexes for pilgrims visiting destinations like Tirumala, Srisailam, and Guddapur, as well as ongoing projects in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, CNBC-TV18 reported.
