Shivamogga Lok Sabha member B Y Raghavendra has predicted the imminent collapse of the Congress government in Karnataka following the Lok Sabha polls.

Speaking to media persons after attending the Atirudra Mahayaga in Vinoba Nagar, Shivamogga, on Wednesday (6 March), Raghavendra expressed his belief that the current administration is fragile and unlikely to endure.

“The Congress government in Karnataka is like an accidental child. Nobody thinks it will last long. There have been many developments that hint at the probable collapse of the government soon after the polls,” he said.

He cited statements made by PWD Minister Satish Jarkhiholi, who expressed intentions to vie for the Deputy Chief Minister's position post-elections, as evidence of potential upheaval within the Congress.

Raghavendra anticipated defections from the Congress to the BJP after the polls, leading to the government's downfall.

“I believe soon after the polls, many Congress MLAs will shift to the BJP, resulting in the collapse of the government,” he said.

He also emphasised the significance of the Atirudra Mahayaga conducted under the guidance of Ujjain Saddharma Peetha seer Siddalinga Rajadeshikendra Swamy, aiming to secure Prime Minister Narendra Modi's re-election and address drought concerns in the state.

Additionally, Raghavendra highlighted the launch of Bharath rice at Rs 29 per kilo during the event, urging the public to take advantage of the initiative.

He criticised the Congress government's failure to deliver on its promise of providing affordable rice to impoverished families.
