Karnataka Rajya Sabha Elections: All Three Congress Candidates Win, BJP's Narayan Bandage Wins While JD(S) Nominee Loses

The ruling Congress party registered wins for all three candidates for Rajya Sabha elections in Karnataka on Tuesday (27 February). The winning Congress candidates are Ajay Maken, Dr Syed Naseer Hussain and GC Chandrashekhar, who won with 47, 46 and 46 votes respectively.
This comes after Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA ST Somashekar cross-voted in favour of the Congress party. BJP's chief whip Doddanagouda G Patil acknowledged this and said discussion is going on what action can be taken against him.
Somashekar's decision to deviate from the party's directive was made by a cryptic remark he made before casting his vote, emphasising his priority for constituency welfare.
"I will vote in favour of those who assure me and give confidence that they will give funds for the water and other management in my constituency," Somashekar asserted.
Meanwhile, BJP candidate Narayana Bandage also won while BJP-JD(S) candidate Kupendra Reddy lost.
Winning candidate Hussain said, "This was an expected victory. We had enough votes to win all three seats. We got more votes for these three seats. This is an important victory ahead of Lok Sabha elections."
