Stones from Karnataka’s Chikaballapur district will be used to make the foundation of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, heat, water and earthquake proof.
As reported by The New Indian Express, the stones for the foundation of the much awaited Ram Mandir are being sourced from Chikkaballapura district in Karnataka.
Chikkaballapur MLA and state’s Minister of Health and Family Welfare, and Medical Education, K Sudhakar tweeted saying “Namma Chikkaballapura is blessed to be part of the construction of grand temple at Ayodhya Rama Janmabhoomi”.
He called it the district’s ‘Squirrel service’ to the Sri Rama Temple.
As reported, four companies from Chikkaballapur will supply the stones that are being sourced from quarries in Gukanahalli, Adigalli, Bande villages on the outskirts of the district.
The stones, as mentioned are heat resistant, water proof and earthquake resistant and are being used for the foundation as they are the hardest in the country.
“The entire Ram Temple complex will be earthquake-resistant. To ensure that it is quake proof, the temple foundation is 40 feet deep. The stones being brought from Chikkaballapur were tested by subjecting them to heat up to 1,500 C. These stones will also be tested by exposing them to freezing temperature for more than 24 hours, making them totally waterproof,” explained Muniraju, a contractor and member of Vishwa Hindu Parishad.
Each granite block measures 5 feet in length, 3 feet in thickness and 2.75 feet in width. As per the same report, geologists date the highly earthquake resistant granites as having been formed 2,500 million years ago.
