In a recent development, SFIO (Serious Fraud Investigation Office) officials have started probe into the alleged payments made by Cochin minerals and Rutiles Ltd. (CMRL) to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan's daughter.

The allegation suggests that Veena Vijayan's company, Exalogic Solutions Pvt Ltd, received funds from CMRL without rendering any services.

As reported by ANI, SFIO officials have been scrutinising CMRL's corporate office in Aluva, Ernakulam since Monday (5 February), examining documents related to the alleged transactions with Veena and Exalogic Solutions.

Earlier, Minister of State V Muraleedharan had claimed that Veena Vijayan's company failed to provide evidence of services rendered to CMRL, raising suspicion of a bribe.

He alleged that CM Vijayan's daughter received Rs 1.75 crore without justification.

"The Minister of Corporate Affairs has come out with a report that says that they have not been able to give a satisfactory answer regarding the services that they provided to the company in Aluva... She was not able to clarify what service she provided, so she received Rs 1.75 crore, which amounts to a bribe. The report says that CM's daughter received a bribe of Rs 1.75 crores from a company that was receiving many benefits and required benefits from the government," said MoS Muraleedharan.

However, CM Vijayan defended his daughter, stating that she initiated the company with her mother's retirement benefits.

He refuted allegations of illegal payments, asserting that Exalogic Solutions had engaged in legitimate business activities with various companies, including CMRL.

"Exalogic had done business with several companies and CMRL was one of them. Exalogic received remuneration as part of a legal agreement with CMRL. There is a deduction of income tax at source and a payment of GST. It is understood that this has been disclosed in the income tax return of Exalogic Company," the Kerala CM said.
