Liquor Policy Case: BRS Leader Kavitha Sent To Judicial Custody Till 9 April, Accused Of Giving Rs 100 Crore To AAP Leaders

After the Enforcement Directorate's (ED) custody came to an end today (26 March), a Delhi court sent Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader K Kavitha to judicial custody till 9 April in the liquor policy case.
Kavitha, the daughter of former Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, was sent to ED custody on 17 March for seven days after her arrest. The ED custody was then extended for another three days.
Representing Kavitha, senior advocate Vikram Chaudhari argued for interim bail citing exams of her 16-year-old son. However, the ED sought one week time to file a response to the bail plea, Indian Express reported.
The agency claimed that data from Kavitha's mobile phone had been extracted and was under analysis. It further alleged that there was evidence suggesting the erasure of mobile data during the investigation.
Earlier, ED alleged that Kavitha along with others conspired with the top leaders of AAP including Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia for getting favours in the Delhi Excise policy formulation and implementation.
It further accused AAP leaders of getting Rs 100 crore from Kavitha as "a continuous stream of illegal funds in the form of kickback, from the wholesalers was generated."
Kavitha, who is a member of the legislative council (MLC) from Nizamabad, was nabbed after the ED and the Income Tax department conducted searches at her Hyderabad residence.
