A Delhi court on Saturday (23 March) extended the ED custody of K Kavitha, BRS leader and daughter of former Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao, for three more days in the liquor policy case.
The ED had requested an extension of remand for five more days under the same terms and conditions that led to her initial seven-day custody starting on 17 March.
Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court has scheduled her next appearance for 26 March, Times of India reported.
Kavitha had also filed a bail application, which was opposed by the Enforcement Directorate.
The ED's special counsel Zoheb Hossain argued against the bail application, stating that it was "not maintainable at this stage of the investigation."
The investigative agency claimed that data from Kavitha's mobile phone had been extracted and was under analysis.
It further alleged that there was evidence suggesting the erasure of mobile data during the investigation.
Hossain added that Kavitha had been confronted with statements during the probe, and that she "conspired" to pay the kickbacks of Rs 100 crore.
Adding further, the ED said that Kavitha's nephew, who was "involved in utilising the proceeds of crime", did not appear despite multiple summonses in the wake of which searches are under way at several locations.
