Days after launching its official campaign for the Lok Sabha elections 2024, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday (27 January) appointed its election in-charges and co-in-charges for states and Union Territories for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

BJP national vice president Baijayant Panda has been given the charge of the crucial state of Uttar Pradesh while Vinod Tawde has been appointed as election in-charge of Bihar, where JD(U) president and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is likely to return to the NDA.

Some of the other names include Bihar ex-minister Mangal Pandey in West Bengal, Tripura ex-CM Biplab Kumar Deb in Haryana and BJP general secretary Tarun Chugh in J&K and Ladakh, and former Gujarat CM Vijaybhai Rupani in the UT of Chandigarh.

This comes two days after the party launched its official campaign for the Lok Sabha polls on Thursday (25 January).

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had joined the campaign launch event via video conferencing.

The BJP campaign launch was marked by the release of its theme song for the upcoming general elections in April-May.

The song, Tabhi toh sab Modi ko chunte hain (that is why people choose Modi), packaged as a video of 2 minutes and 13 seconds duration, expresses the ruling party’s confidence and stresses that Modi is all set to become the prime minister for the third straight term.

This video features the government's achievements across various sectors, including the launch of schemes like the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Har Ghar Nal Scheme, Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi, and the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), all launched during PM Modi's last ten years in power.

Additionally, the video features the inauguration of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya on 22 January, highlights Modi's interactions with world leaders, and celebrates India's historic achievement of a soft landing on the Moon.
