Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Friday (12 April) claimed that BJP was plotting to overthrow the elected government in Delhi by imposing President's rule in the national capital city.

The BJP, however, rejected the claim made by the AAP, and sought resignation of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who is lodged in Tihar jail in connection with the Liquor policy case.

"BJP is plotting to impose President's rule in Delhi because it cannot win elections against Arvind Kejriwal," AAP said in a post on X.

Delhi minister Atishi said they have learnt from credible sources that a political conspiracy is underway to destabilise the Arvind Kejriwal government.

Atishi said that senior IAS officers' postings in Delhi have remained stagnant for several months, despite existing vacancies in various departments.

"Arvind Kejriwal has been arrested in a fake case and that too without any proof because there is a conspiracy to topple the elected government of Delhi. when we see a few things from the past, it shows that there has been a well-thought conspiracy going on," Atishi claimed in a press conference.

"No officers are being posted in Delhi, no transfer postings within Delhi, and officers have stopped attending the meetings since the elections were announced," the AAP leader added.

She also said Kejriwal's private secretary being sacked was also part of the "conspiracy".

The BJP denied all allegations and said that AAP has been "cooking up new stories daily".

"The party is cooking up manohar kahaani (entertaining stories) daily. They are alleging that officials are not being appointed, but since September the Chief Minister has not met the Lieutant General," BJP spokesperson Harish Khurana said, NDTV reported.

BJP Delhi chief Virendra Sachdeva also slammed AAP for the latest claim, and sought Kejriwal's resignation.

"Arvind Kejriwal was reprimanded by the Delhi High Court, and the effects of the defamation notice from the Delhi BJP are beginning to show on Ms. Atishi. This morning, instead of repeating her old fabricated story about Operation Lotus, Atishi was seen crafting a new narrative," he said.

"It would be better for Arvind Kejriwal to resign and hand over the government to a new Chief Minister, allowing the administration of Delhi to function smoothly," Sachdeva added.
