Mayawati Lashes Out At Congress For Politics On The Issue Of Stranded Students And Migrant Workers

Politics between Congress party and the Bharatiya Janata Party in Uttar Pradesh intensified over the issue of buses to help the migrant workers travel home.
The move of the Congress government in Rajasthan of handing over a bill of Rs 36.36 lakh to Yogi Adityanath-led UP government for the ferrying of students stranded in Kota has further intensified the row.
Bahujan Samajwadi Party supremo Mayawati has reacted to the politics between Congress government in Rajasthan and Adityanath-led government in UP.
Mayawati's words and reaction on the issue indicate her tough stance on Congress amid its moves on the issue of stranded students and migrant workers.
She has written a series of posts on Twitter, pointing out issues erupting between Congress-led government in Rajasthan and Adityanath-led government in Uttar Pradesh.
In one of the posts she said that the Congress government in Rajasthan had asked the UP government to pay Rs 36.36 lakh for its expenditure on sending the students stranded in Kota district back to the home state.
This, she said, was an indication of the Congress-led government's bankruptcy and inhuman attitude. She said that this kind of politics between two states was saddening.
Mayawati's BSP will be skipping the opposition meeting chaired by Congress leader Sonia Gandhi, it has been reported.
The Congress had invited opposition parties for a meeting to be held under a video-conferencing session. The meeting is said to have the discussion on the issues surrounding centre's policies during the lockdown and the Narendra Modi-led government's handling of the pandemic.
Reports say that the others who will be skipping the meeting are Samajwadi Party supremo Akhilesh Yadav and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
In another post on Twitter, she said that the Congress government in Rajasthan was charging an arbitrary fee for sending the students stranded in Kota back to UP and playing political games on the issue of sending the migrant workers back to UP by bus.
On 19 May, she had urged the Congress to send the 1,000 buses it claims to have to Lucknow without delay to help the migrant workers travel home.
This report mentions that the UP government has claimed that Rs 19 lakh has already been paid to the Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation for fuel prices. Adityanath's media adviser Mritunjay Kumar has said that the demand from the Rajasthan government has exposed its "inhuman" face.
