Military Hospitals Across The Country To Have Ayurveda Centres

  • As per reports, the Ministry of Ayush will be providing skilled Ayush doctors and pharmacists to 37 Cantonment Hospitals.
  • The Ministry of Defence will provide Ayush doctors and pharmacists to 10 major military hospitals.

The Ministry of Ayush and Ministry of Defence have decided to operationalise Ayurveda Centres at various military hospitals across the country.

With an objective of ‘integrating Ayurveda into the health establishment’, these centres will be functional at 37 Cantonment Hospitals across the country from 01 May 2022.

As per a release, the Ayush Ministry would be providing skilled Ayush doctors and pharmacists to these 37 Cantonment Hospitals and Defence Ministry would be providing Ayush doctors and pharmacists to 10 major military hospitals, which are 166 MH, CH (WC), Chandimandir, MH Jaipur, CH (CC) Lucknow, MH Dehradun, MH Jabalpur, CH (SC) Pune, MH Secunderabad, CH (EC), Kolkata and 151 BH.

Further, the Ministry of Ayush would be empanelling skilled and qualified Ayurveda doctors and pharmacists as far as manning these facilities is concerned.

Through this, the residents of cantonments, including Armed Forces personnel, their families and civilians, would be able to benefit or avail of Ayurveda health services from these hospitals.

The decision was taken during a high-level meeting held between Defence Secretary Dr Ajay Kumar and the Ministry of Ayush Secretary Vaidya Rakesh Kotecha.

Through an agreement, the Ministry of Ayush and the Director General Armed Forces Medical Services (DGAFMS) decided to operationalise Ayurveda Centres under Armed Force Medical Services (AFMS) Hospitals.

The centres will be set up at the cantonment hospitals at Agra, Allahabad, Bareilly, Dehradun, Mhow, Pachmarhi, Shahjahanpur, Jabalpur, Badami Bagh, Barrackpore, Ahmedabad, Dehuroad, Khadki, Secunderabad, Dagshai, Ferozepur, Jalandhar, Jammu, Jutogh, Kasauli, Khasyol, Subathu, Jhansi, Babina, Roorkee, Danapur, Kamptee, Ranikhet, Lansdowne, Ramgarh, Mathura, Belgaum, Morar, Wellington, Amritsar, Bakloh, Dalhousie.

“Ayurveda is spreading its reach across the world significantly. Further, the scientifically proven efficacy has enhanced the credibility of the Ayurveda stream globally,” said the release.

The Ministry of Ayush will also celebrate Yoga Mahotsav on World Health Day on 7 April at the Red Fort in commemoration of the seventy-fifth day of the countdown to International Day of Yoga (IDY). A demonstration of Common Yoga Protocol will take place that will see several Union Ministers, Members of the Parliament, Ambassadors of various countries stationed in Delhi, prominent Sports Celebrities and Yoga Gurus in participation.

Ayush Ministry is the nodal ministry for observation of the International Day of Yoga, which is in its eighth year. It features a mass yoga demonstration led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This year, on the occasion of the ‘Azaadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’, the IDY celebrations are set to take place at 75 iconic sites across India.
