Mizoram Seeks Centre's Intervention As More Myanmar Army Soldiers Enter India Amid Clashes With Rebels

Amid the escalating conflict between Myanmar's rebel forces and its junta regime, a significant number of Myanmar Army personnel are seeking refuge in India.
The Mizoram government has informed the central government of this influx and is urging prompt action to repatriate these soldiers to their country.
Around 600 soldiers from the Myanmar Army have entered India due to intense fighting.
They sought asylum in the Lawngtlai district of Mizoram after their bases were overtaken by the Arakan Army (AA), an ethnic insurgent group in Myanmar's Rakhine state, NDTV reported citing government sources.
These soldiers are currently sheltered in a camp belonging to the Assam Rifles.
This situation has led to urgent discussions between Mizoram's Chief Minister Lalduhoma and India's Union Home Minister Amit Shah during the Northeastern Council meeting's plenary session in Shillong.
Mizoram is reportedly pressing for the quick return of the Myanmar Army personnel who have found refuge in the state, amid growing concerns about the rising tensions and their potential impact on regional stability.
"People are fleeing from Myanmar to our country for shelter, and we are helping them on humanitarian grounds. Soldiers of Myanmar keep coming, seeking shelter, and earlier we used to send them back by air. Around 450 army personnel were sent back," Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma said.
