News Brief
Eknath Shinde.
On Thursday (13 April), two new signal-free travel corridors were inaugurated by Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde in Mumbai-Thane.
Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has built two roads: one corridor links Mankhurd flyover and Chheda Nagar Junction in Ghatkopar to Thane on the Eastern Express Highway, and the other is an extension of the Santacruz Chembur Link Road (SCLR) from Kapadia Nagar to Vakola junction, constructed as an elevated corridor.
The new 1.23-km flyover offers signal-free travel from Mankhurd to Thane.
The newly completed Santa Cruz–Chembur Link Road (SCLR) and East Freeway (EFF) projects caused heavy traffic at Chheda Nagar Junction in Ghatkopar. To address this issue, MMRDA launched the Chheda Nagar Junction Improvement Project, which includes the construction of three flyovers and a subway.
One of the three flyovers, spanning 1.23 km from Mankhurd to Thane, is currently being built.
Additionally, MMRDA officials confirm that the extension of SCLR, featuring an elevated corridor from Kurla to Vakola, will allow for faster connectivity between eastern and western express highways.
S V R Srinivas, MMRDA Commissioner, stated they are speedily completing projects to supply top-notch infrastructure to MMR inhabitants, reports Indian Express.
