No Police Permission Required To Telecast Ayodhya Ram Mandir 'Pran Pratishtha' At Private Places: Madras HC

The Madras High Court on Monday (22 January) ruled that no police permission was required to telecast Ayodhya Ram Temple programme in private temples and halls.
This ruling comes as Justice Anand Venkatesh of Madras HC held special sitting to hear plea against ban on annadhanam and bhajans in private halls in Tamil Nadu.
The Court said that no police permission is required to telecast the program in private places, Livelaw reported.
It added that for temples under the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments HR&CE department, prior information to the Executive Officer would suffice.
Justice Venkatesh further noted that ultimately everyone concerned must keep in mind that Bhakti towards God is only for peace and happiness and not to disturb the equilibrium prevailing in the society.
This comes as Union Finance Minister and BJP leader Nirmala Sitharaman on Sunday (21 January) alleged that Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK)-led Tamil Nadu government banned watching the live telecast of Ayodhya Ram Mandir programmes of 22 January 2024.
She pointed out that there are over 200 temples of Lord Ram in Tamil Nadu. However, in HRCE Act-managed temples no puja/bhajan/prasadam/annadanam in the name of Lord Ram is allowed, as per her post on X.
