The final payment date for Ola electric scooters—Ola S1 and S1 Pro—has been extended to 10 November, along with test rides, according to reports.

This update comes after customers who reserved the company's electric scooters have complained about the lack of clarity in a test drive and delivery timelines after making payments.

A customer told Business Standard, "They are saying that deliveries would begin after test drives. But there is a lack of clarity in which cities or towns the test drives will take place. Bookings have come from all over the country so will they conduct test drives all over the nation? If not, then there would be a delay in deliveries."

Previously, the firm stated that the electric scooters would be delivered by the end of October and that the final payment for the brand new electric scooters—S1 and S1 pro—would begin on 18 October. But the company has now decided to require consumers to pay in full only after a test drive, creating concerns about timely deliveries of already reserved e-scooters.

While explaining where the company stands, a spokesperson from Ola Electric said: "Ola Electric has provided a specific delivery window to every customer who has purchased our scooter and we remain on track to deliver the scooters within that window.”

The spokesperson noted: “We prefer customers to pay the balance amount once they have the opportunity to take a test drive and hence the final payment window is aligned to the test drive dates, starting 10 November onwards, which have also been communicated to the customers.”

“We are committed to deliver the scooter within the respective delivery window to every customer," the Ola spokesperson said.

According to the company, if a consumer decides to cancel the booking after the test ride, the entire cost will be returned.

However, earlier, due to a website issue, Ola Electric had to push the opening of its purchasing window by a week. The company said in September that it sold e-scooters—Ola S1 and S1 Pro—worth over Rs 1,100 crore within just two days.

While the purchase window has now closed, reservations for e-scooters are still available on the company's website.

The Ola S1 is priced at Rs 99,999, while the Ola S1 Pro is priced at Rs 1,29,999. However, several states, such as Delhi, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Rajasthan, have distinct prices.

In the state of Gujarat, the Ola S1 starts at Rs 79,999, while the Ola S1 Pro is priced at Rs 109,999. Various subsidies can be responsible for the price disparity.

The Ola S1 will be available in 5 different colour options, while the Ola S1 Pro will be available in 10 colours.

The company had earlier claimed that it would begin with a 10 lakh annual manufacturing capacity and subsequently grow up to a 20 lakh capacity in the first phase, depending on market demand.
