Pakistan Army's New Ploy? Hafiz Saeed-Backed Party To Contest All Seats In 2024 General Election

The Pakistan Markazi Muslim League (PMML), a political party considered to be backed by 2008 Mumbai attack mastermind and terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) chief Hafiz Saeed, has put forth candidates for all national and provincial assembly seats in the Pakistani general election slated for 8 February 2024.
Talha Saeed, son of Hafiz Saeed, is also contesting in the election. He is vying for a seat in the National Assembly's constituency NA-127, Lahore.
Meanwhile, Khalid Masood Sindhu, the central president of PMML, is contesting from NA-130, against the former prime minister and the head of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, Nawaz Sharif.
The PMML's electoral symbol is chair.
Tabish Qayyum, a spokesperson for the PMML, told Pakistani newspaper Dawn that they have proposed their candidates for every National Assembly and provincial seats nationwide.
“We have left no seat uncontested,” Qayyum was quoted as saying in the Dawn report.
However, he said that his party will be ready to make seat adjustments if and when contacted.
The PMML had taken part as Milli Muslim League, the political face of banned Jamaat-ud-Dawa, in the 2018 general election but it failed to show any promising results from any constituency.
The PMML came into existence following the ban on the Milli League by the Pakistan government.
