Parliament Security Breach: Delhi Police Arrests Sixth Accused Mahesh Kumawat
Yellow smoke released by intruders in Lok Sabha
Delhi Police on Saturday (16 December) arrested the sixth accused in the Parliament Security breach case.
According to the Delhi police officials, Mahesh Kumawat, the sixth accused arrested today, was also part of the conspiracy to launch an attack on the Lok Sabha.
Delhi police made the arrest after an hours-long interrogation, India Today reported.
Mahesh had come to Delhi on the day of the attack on the Parliament, when two persons jumped into the Lok Sabha from visitors' gallery, and threw smoke bombs during the session.
Lalit Jha, the mastermind of the entire attack in New Delhi, had fled to Mahesh's hideout in Rajasthan when the police was looking for him.
Mahesh also joined Lalit in destroying the mobile phones of the four accused arrested initially.
Kumawat was also in constant contact with Neelam Devi, who was arrested for protesting outside the Parliament while her group members entered the Lok Sabha.
Both Lalit and Mahesh had surrendered together at the police station in the New Delhi area on Thursday. Lalit's arrest was recorded on Friday.
Kailash, who is Mahesh's cousin, is also under interrogation by the Delhi Police in connection to the case, but he has not been taken into custody so far.
On 13 December, Sagar Sharma and Manoranjan D jumped into the Lok Sabha's chamber from the public gallery during Zero Hour, released yellow smoke from canisters and shouted slogans, before being overpowered by the MPs
During this time, two members of their group - Neelam Devi and Amol Shinde- protested outside the Parliament by setting off coloured smoke bombs into the air and shouting "tanashahi nahi chalegi".
All of them have been arrested and charged with terrorism.
According to the police, the accused wanted to create anarchy in the country to compelt the government to meet their demands.
Till now, six people have been arrested in relation with the case.
