The Lok Sabha secretariat has suspended as many as eight security personnel following a significant security breach at the Parliament on Wednesday (13 December).

The Winter Session of Parliament, which resumed today, saw a substantial increase in security measures.

However, both Houses were thrown into disarray as Opposition leaders called for a debate on the security lapse, leading to an adjournment of both Houses.

The Delhi Police have confirmed that four individuals, arrested in connection with the security breach at Parliament, have been charged under the anti-terror Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) following extensive questioning.

The charges come in the wake of the incident where two people leaped into the chamber from the public gallery in the afternoon, releasing a yellow gas from canisters, leading to their immediate arrest.

In a related incident, two other people, one man and a woman, were apprehended outside Parliament while protesting with yellow smoke.

Additionally, a fifth suspect believed to have been part of the plot has been detained by law enforcement.

Upon the request of the Lok Sabha Secretariat, the Ministry of Home Affairs has initiated an investigation into the breach incident.

Broadcasted video clips of the event reveal members trying to apprehend the trespassers, identified as Sagar Sharma and Manoranjan D, who were seen clambering from one desk to another.

The Houses were promptly adjourned shortly after.

In a related incident outside the Parliament building, Neelam, 42, and Amol Shinde, 25, were taken into custody by the police near New Delhi's Transport Bhavan, where they had been staging a protest with yellow smoke.
