Prime Minister Modi To Lay Foundation For Development Projects In Pune; To Receive Lokmanya Tilak Award

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a day-long visit to the Pune city of Maharashtra today (1 August).
During this visit, the Prime Minister is expected to lay the foundation stone for various development projects and also receive the Lokmanya Tilak National Award.
Upon his arrival, Prime Minister Modi will visit the Dagdusheth Mandir to perform 'darshan and pooja'.
The Prime Minister will be honored with the Lokmanya Tilak National Award. This prestigious award, established by the Tilak Smarak Mandir Trust in 1983, aims to recognise the legacy of Lokmanya Tilak.
The award is given to individuals who have made remarkable and extraordinary contributions to the progress and development of the nation.
The award ceremony is held annually on 1 August to commemorate the death anniversary of Lokmanya Tilak, according to a statement.
The organisers have invited Nationalist Congress Party's (NCP) Sharad Pawar to be the chief guest for the event.
Prime Minister Modi will be the 41st recipient of the award, joining esteemed individuals such as Dr Shankar Dayal Sharma, Pranab Mukherjee, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Indira Gandhi, Manmohan Singh, N R Narayana Murthy, and E Sreedharan.
Further, the Prime Minister will kick off the Metro trains and also inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for various development projects.
The Prime Minister will inaugurate the completed sections of the two corridors of Pune Metro Phase-I by flagging off Metro trains. These sections include the route from Phugewadi station to Civil Court station and from Garware College station to Ruby Hall Clinic station.
In 2016, Prime Minister Modi laid the foundation stone for this project, marking the beginning of the Pune Metro Phase-I.
The newly completed sections of the Pune Metro will connect important locations within the city, such as Shivaji Nagar, Civil Court, Pune Municipal Corporation office, Pune RTO, and Pune Railway Station.
This inauguration is a significant step towards fulfilling the prime minister's vision of providing modern and eco-friendly mass rapid urban transport systems throughout the country.
The Prime Minister is also set to inaugurate the waste-to-energy plant at the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC).
The waste-to-energy plant, developed at a cost of approximately Rs 300 crore, will utilise around 2.5 lakh MT of waste each year to generate electricity.
As part of the mission to provide housing for all, the prime minister will hand over more than 1,280 houses constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) by the PCMC.
Additionally, Prime Minister Modi will also distribute over 2,650 PMAY houses constructed by the Pune Municipal Corporation.
He will also lay the foundation stone for approximately 1,190 PMAY houses to be built by the PCMC, along with more than 6,400 houses constructed by the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority.
