Uttar Pradesh chief minister (CM) Yogi Adityanath during the launch of ‘Bandai Dam’ in Lalitpur in Bundelkhand region said that an airport will be constructed in the district.

“Now, wherever a person wants to go from Lalitpur, he or she will be able to visit in a short time,” he said on Tuesday at the launch of Bandai Bandh Pariyojna in Lalitpur inauguration of projects worth nearly Rs 1,100 crore in Jhansi. He also laid the foundation stone of projects worth about Rs 500 crore.

He said that his government will turn Bundelkhand into “earth’s heaven” with several development projects, including the defence corridor, the upcoming Bundelkhand Expressway and new airport in Lalitpur.

Lalitpur already has an airstrip which was developed during World War II, but has been lying unused. Yogi government plans to develop it into an airport with a large chunk of land available for expansion.

CM Adityanath said that the airport will reduce the travel time from the district to Delhi by less than an hour, to Mumbai by less than two hours and even Bangalore by less than two hours

Other than that, a medical college and a residential school for children of labourers and the destitute will also be established in Lalitpur.

The chief minister also told the people that his government has decided to provide Rs 2 lakh insurance to labourers from the state who are working in other parts of the country or abroad. Apart from this, the government will also provide Rs 5-lakh health insurance to each worker along with other family members. For this, the registration of labourers will take place in every district

CM Yogi Adityanath also announced that his government has also decided to open a “gaushala” (cow shelter) at every nyaya panchayat-level in the state.

The chief minster also did spot inspection of Bundelkhand Expressway and the ongoing construction of the bridge over Yamuna River, saying that it will be completed in a record time of seven to eight months.

He further said that in order to make women self-reliant and self-dependent, the government has now decided that ration shops in the districts will be run by women members of self-help groups.
