Pune Porsche Accident: Peon Delivered Rs 3 Lakh Bribe To Doctors For Changing Blood Sample Of Minor Accused, Say Sources

A day after the arrest of two doctors for manipulating blood reports of the accused minor in the Pune Porsche accident, it has come to light that Rs 3 lakh bribe was given to them, NDTV reported citing sources.
A peon named Atul Ghatkamble has also been arrested in the case, who allegedly acted as the middleman and delivered Rs 3 lakh bribe to the two doctors after collecting from the minor's family.
Dr Ajay Tawade, head of the forensics department, and Dr Shrihari Harnor, the chief medical officer, of the Sasoon General Hospital were arrested yesterday (27 May) for tampering with evidence.
"The juvenile's father had called the doctor and offered him allurements to replace the blood samples," police said claiming a conversation between Dr Tawade and the accused's father.
The minor's blood samples are suspected to have been replaced by the blood samples of a doctor. Dr Tawade has said that he will reveal more names during the investigation.
The CCTV footage of a bar shows the 17-years-and-eight-months-old accused drinking alcohol before his Porsche killed two young IT professionals hailing from Madhya Pradesh.
However, the blood samples did not reveal traces of alcohol as it was replaced and the accused's sample was thrown into the dustbin, as per Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar.
The teenager, initially granted bail by the Juvenile Justice Board and instructed to write an essay on road accidents, was later sent to an observation home until 5 June after public outrage.
The Pune Police also arrested the teenager's father, Vishal Agarwal, and grandfather, Surendra Agarwal, in connection with the accident and suspended some police officers.
