In a major recruitment drive to provide jobs in the government sector, the Centre will hand over more than 71,000 appointment letters for various posts in 45 departments, at 45 places across the country to successful candidates.
Out of total 71,341 appointment letters, the Indian Railways has maximum recruitment letters of 50,191 to be given on 13 April at the Rozgar Mela — to be organised all over the country, barring Karnataka.
Since Karnataka is under the election code of conduct at the moment, there will be no Rozgar Mela in the state. The state is slated to hold Assembly polls on 10 May.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is slated to hand over appointment letters at one place, while all other 44 places would be connected virtually.
Candidates have been selected after successfully competing through various stages of the recruitment process, including written and physical tests, to get the appointment letters at the event organised by the Railways.
Last time (2022) the Rozgar Mela was organised by the Department of Posts.
The Railways would hand out maximum appointment letters, which is followed by 6,003 job letters by department of posts, 3,513 appointment letters by department of financial services and 2,907 letters by Ministry of Defence.
The department of higher education would offer 2,574 posts, followed by 1,013 posts by the Ministry of Power, 945 jobs by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, 731 job letters by the Home Ministry, 660 jobs by the Ministry of Coal and 531 job offers by the Ministry of Petroleum.

The Ministry of Labour and Employment would be offering 94 jobs, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs will offer 82 jobs, and the department of revenue will offer 81 jobs.
Other ministries like environment, ports, and textiles have also finalised the job offers to be given out during the Rozgar Mela.
