Unrepentant Mother Of Baby Who Died Due To Harsh Cold At Shaheen Bagh Says Will Still Go To Protests

The controversial anti-CAA protests at Shaheen Bagh tragically resulted in the death of a infant name Mohammed Jahaan after he was regularly taken to the protest venue despite the harsh weather conditions.
The baby breathed his last on Thursday night (30 January). His mother had taken him to the protest on the night of his death and put him to sleep only at 1 AM. In the morning his parents found him motionless. He was declared dead after being taken to a hospital.
As reported, the baby was taken to the Shaheen Bagh protesters even at a tender age of 20 days and in the process was cheered on by a section of the media. Following the shocking death of the baby, some people on social media termed it a “sacrifice”.
Other protesters too sang a similar tune and made statements like, “Humne thodi maara hai usuko. Allah ki bacchi thi, Allah ne apne paas bula liya. (We didn’t kill the child. He was Allah’s child and Allah has called him back).
The baby’s mother Nazia though didn’t show signs of remorse or repentance while speaking to media personnel and has asserted that she will soon be back to join the protests.
As per a Press Trust of India report, the mother has asserted that she will continue going to the protest for the sake of the “future of her children”. The report claimed that the mother Nazia used to fight with her husband and in-laws everyday to go to the Shaheen Bagh protests.
The couple live at a shanty in Delhi’s Batla house area and have a five-year-old daughter and a one-year-old son. The husband too has refused to take responsibility for his son’s death and instead blamed the CAA and NRC for it.
“Had the government not brought CAA and NRC, people would not have protested and my wife would not have joined them, my son would have been alive”, the husband Mohammed Arif has been quoted as saying.
Even the mother when questioned by a reporter over whether she took the right decision by taking her baby to the protest unflinchingly said that, she did nothing wrong.
“Yes I absolutely did the right thing, when we protest we will also take out children with us, this is their right...how can we keep them at home”, the mother was quoted as saying.
