US House Approves $95 Billion Package For Ukraine, Israel, And Taiwan Amid Conflicts As President Biden Insists, Here's The Breakdown

The US House of Representatives passed a $95 billion legislative package on Saturday (20 April), receiving broad bipartisan support. The package provides security assistance to Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan, despite objections from some Republican hardliners as per a report by Reuters.
The legislation will now move to the Democratic-majority Senate, which had passed a similar measure more than two months ago.
Leaders including Democratic President Joe Biden and top Senate Republican Mitch McConnell had been urging Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson to bring the bill up for a vote.
The Senate is scheduled to begin considering the bill on Tuesday, with some initial votes that afternoon. Final passage is expected sometime next week, paving the way for Biden to sign it into law.
The package includes $60.84 billion to address the conflict in Ukraine, with $23 billion allocated to replenish US weapons stocks and facilities. It also includes $26 billion for Israel, including $9.1 billion for humanitarian needs, and $8.12 billion for the Indo-Pacific, including Taiwan.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy has expressed his gratitude, stating that US lawmakers are helping to ensure that history stays on the right track.
The Biden administration is already finalising its next assistance package for Ukraine to announce soon after the bill becomes law, in order to meet Ukraine’s urgent battlefield needs.
However, it remains unclear how quickly the new military funding for Ukraine will be used up, potentially leading to further action by Congress.
Biden, who has been urging Congress since last year to approve additional aid to Ukraine, emphasised the urgency of the situation, highlighting Israel's challenges with attacks from Iran and Ukraine's ongoing bombardment from Russia.
