Uttar Pradesh: BJP Leader Pramod Yadav Fatally Shot In Jaunpur, Contested Against Dhananjay Singh's Wife In 2012

BJP leader Pramod Yadav, who contested the 2012 assembly elections from the Malhani seat against Jagriti Singh, wife of former MP Dhananjay Singh, was fatally shot by unidentified assailants in Jaunpur district, Uttar Pradesh.
The incident occurred near Bodhpur village turn under the Sikarara police station area as per a report by Hindustan Times.
Yadav, 55, was stopped by the assailants under the pretext of giving him a ‘card’, after which they shot him three times.
The attackers fled the scene, leaving their bike behind. Yadav, the Jaunpur district unit president of BJP Kisan Morcha, was declared dead upon arrival at the hospital.
Jaunpur Superintendent of Police Ajaipal Sharma stated that multiple teams have been deployed to apprehend the assailants, and initial investigations have yielded significant leads.
Yadav's political history includes contesting the 2012 assembly elections from Malhani against Jagriti Singh.
Following their divorce in 2017, Dhananjay Singh married Srikala Reddy. Singh, now with the Janata Dal (United), was recently sentenced to seven years in prison in a 2020 kidnapping and extortion case, making him ineligible to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections from Jaunpur.
Additional Sessions Judge Sharad Kumar Tripathi convicted Singh and his associate Santosh Vikram for the kidnapping of Namami Gange project manager Abhinav Singhal and imposed a fine of Rs 75,000 on each of them.
