Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS: Uttar Pradesh Chief Secretary Reviews 17 Km Priority Section Of Corridor

With the much-awaited launching of the RRTS service in the priority section of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut corridor expected to be in a month, officials visited the section and took stock of the construction progress.

Uttar Pradesh chief secretary Durga Shankar Mishra along with NCRTC managing director Vinay Kumar Singh, visited the 17-km-long route of the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) corridor and inspected the preparations.

There are five stations in the Priority Section — Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Guldhar, Duhai and Duhai Depot.

NCRTC is going to commence operations on this section, way ahead of the scheduled time and preparations are being made on a war footing for the same.

The construction of all the stations is in the final stage and operations will be started soon after getting safety clearances, the officials said.

During this visit, chief secretary Mishra saw the Made-in-India platform screen doors installed at Duhai Depot.

Many state-of-the-art technologies are being used in the implementation of this project with many of them being used for the first time in India and some even in the world — like the latest European Train Control System (ETCS) Level-2 signaling system being deployed over LTE backbone.

Appreciating this, Mishra said that these state-of-the-art technologies being implemented under the Make-in-India initiative is commendable.

"It is in line with the vision of Make-in-India and Atmanirbhar Bharat of the Hon'ble Prime Minister," he expressed.

Chief secretary, along with all the officers also travelled between Duhai Depot station to Sahibabad station.

The chief secretary appreciated the NCRTC team for various provisions made in the train, for the convenience and safety of the passengers.

These include the provision of luggage racks for passengers for comparatively long regional commutes, mobile charging facility at every seat, dedicated space for wheelchairs for differently-abled and stretcher space for emergency medical transit, etc.

Along with this, Mishra also visited the administrative building at the Duhai Depot. He oversaw the train operation and control centre, AFC Lab, signaling and telecom room, simulator room etc. and was informed about the same by the concerned officials.

Mishra also visited the state-of-the-art AR-VR Lab and Centre for Innovation 'Aparimit' at Duhai Depot and showed keen interest in the advanced technologies.

NCRTC is using various advanced technologies like virtual reality, augmented reality, building information modeling etc. for project implementation, operational efficiency, and training purposes.

The managing director of NCRTC briefed him about these different technologies and the concerned officers present there gave the chief secretary a demonstration.

Mishra appreciated the efforts being made by NCRTC for the timely implementation of the project and for overcoming the challenges by using the latest technologies and progressive methods.

Other senior officers of the Uttar Pradesh government and NCRTC were also present during the visit.

Soon the country’s first regional rail will be available for the commuters on the priority section. NCRTC aims to start operations on the entire 82-km long Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor by 2025.
