Uttar Pradesh: NHPC To Construct 1,200 MW Solar Power Project Within Two Years, With Investment Of Over Rs 700 Crore
The project is being set up under the Ultra Mega Renewable Energy Power Park scheme of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy.
National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC), a state-owned power organisation, has unveiled plans to complete the proposed 1,200 MW solar power project in Uttar Pradesh within two years, with an estimated investment of Rs 796.96 crore.
"The park is proposed to be constructed in 24 months from the investment approval and will generate about 2,400 MUs (million units) of electricity every year," NHPC said.
The project, named Jalaun Ultra Renewable Energy Power Park, located in the Jalaun district's Orai area, is set to be executed by NHPC's subsidiary, Bundelkhand Saur Urja Ltd.
The project is being set up under the Ultra Mega Renewable Energy Power Park scheme of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy and is a joint venture between the Uttar Pradesh Non-Conventional Energy Development Agency and the NHPC.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the project virtually on Monday (4 March), marking a significant step towards renewable energy expansion in the region.
With expertise in hydroelectric power development, NHPC, operating under the Ministry of Power, is recognised as the largest hydropower development organisation in India, with capabilities to undertake all the activities from conceptualisation to commissioning of hydro projects.
Meanwhile, shares of NHPC gained over 3 per cent on 6 March morning, a day after the state-run power company said it has started developing the 1,200-MW Jalaun Ultra Renewable Energy Power Park.
