'We Will Wear This Star Until You Condemn Atrocities Of Hamas': Israeli Ambassador Erdan As He Wears Nazi-Era Star While Addressing UNSC
The UN Security Council has so far not adopted any resolutions related to Israel-Hamas conflict.
The Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations, Gilad Erdan, made a poignant statement during his address to the Security Council.
Erdan wore a yellow star on his chest, invoking the memory of the Holocaust and the atrocities faced by the Jewish people during that period.
He did so as a symbol of remembrance and pride, urging the Security Council to condemn the actions of Hamas.
Erdan's move came in response to what he viewed as the Security Council's failure to address the recent deadly attacks by Hamas on Israel.
The Security Council has been divided and has not adopted any resolutions related to the conflict between Israel and Hamas.
The ongoing divisions and differing viewpoints among council members have hindered its ability to take a unified stance on the matter.
While the attacks by Hamas were denounced during the Security Council meeting, there were also mentions of the toll the conflict has taken on the residents of Gaza.
Health officials report a significant number of casualties in the Hamas-controlled Palestinian territory, underscoring the humanitarian challenges in the region.
It's worth noting that despite the impasse in the Security Council, the UN General Assembly passed a nonbinding resolution calling for an "immediate humanitarian truce", although it did not specifically mention Hamas. Israel expressed strong objections to this resolution.
