‘Will Not Allow DMK Ministers Facing Corruption Charges To Go Scot-Free’, Says Edappadi Palaniswami At AIADMK State Conference In Madurai

In his address to the state conference of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) at Madurai on 20 August, general secretary Edappadi Palaniswami (EPS) said that any party worker could rise to the top like him.
He then listed the achievements of the party during his tenure as chief minister and said that a lot of good things had happened in the state whenever the AIADMK was in power.
"Our government had successfully faced the challenges brought by drought, the coronavirus pandemic and Cyclone Gaja which severely affected the Delta region", he said.
Further, he said that while his government had declared the Cauvery Delta region as a protected agricultural zone by keeping the interest of farmers in mind, the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) was the party which had signed the agreement for hydrocarbon exploration.
Regarding the issue of NEET, on which the DMK had organised a statewide hunger strike on the same day as that of the conference, he said that it was a "drama" as the exam was introduced when the DMK was part of the ruling alliance at the centre.
On Katchatheevu, he said that the DMK had not taken any steps to retrieve the island when in power at the centre and was raking up the issue now to divert attention from the dissatisfaction of the people with its rule.
Further, he said that his party would pursue corruption charges against DMK ministers even if it meant going to the Supreme Court. He said that they had been delaying the cases by getting adjournments and after coming to power they were trying to close cases by appointing advocates supporting the party as government pleaders.
