Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

Amit Shah lauded the efforts of security personnel in Chhattisgarh's Kanker, where 29 Maoists were killed, attributing the success to the government's consistent anti-Maoist campaign as per a report by Hindustan Times.

He highlighted the establishment of over 250 camps in Chhattisgarh since 2019 to combat Maoist activities, noting that over 80 Maoists were killed, 125 arrested, and 150 surrendered in the state within three months of the government's formation.

Shah stated, "I can say with conviction that operations against Naxals will continue in the times to come, and under the leadership of Modi, we will uproot Naxalism from our nation in a very short period of time.

The operation in Kanker, where the Maoists were killed, involved a joint team of the Border Security Force and the District Reserve Guard. Shah commended the security forces for their bravery and wished a speedy recovery to the injured personnel.

The home minister emphasised that the Maoists' influence in Chhattisgarh had been significantly reduced due to the government's aggressive approach. He reiterated the government's commitment to making Chhattisgarh and the entire country Maoist-free.

The gun battle with the Maoists took place near Binagunda village under the Chhotebethiya police station area of Kanker. One BSF personnel sustained a bullet injury but is reported to be in stable condition after evacuation.

The Bastar Lok Sabha seat, which includes Kanker, will vote on 26 April, following the first phase of polling on 19 April.
