Over 95% Of Bihar's Population Lacks Vehicle Ownership, 3.5% Employed In Other States: Economic Report Of Caste Survey

According to the caste survey report, an overwhelming 95.49 per cent of Bihar's population does not own any vehicles. The ownership rate of two-wheelers is only 3.8 per cent, while the ownership rate of cars is a mere 0.11 per cent.

The report was presented in both Houses of the Legislature on Tuesday (7 November) revealed that out of the 13.07 crore people, an astonishing 12.48 crore do not own any vehicles, Times of India reported.

According to the report, only 49.68 lakh individuals, which is approximately 3.8 percent of the population, own two-wheelers and a mere 5.72 lakh people, equivalent to just 0.11 per cent, possess four-wheelers.

Additionally, the number of individuals who own tractors is only 1.67 lakh, which accounts for 0.13 percent. In the general category, there are 2.01 crore people, out of which 11.99 lakh individuals own two-wheelers.


A total of 23,738 individuals out of the 2.17 lakh people who have migrated abroad are currently engaged in higher education pursuits. In addition, there are 76,326 individuals from the general category who are employed in other countries.

Approximately 3.5 percent of Bihar's population, or 45,78,669 individuals, are employed in other states.
