Tamil Nadu: Annamalai Says He Is Ready To Face Legal Action; Seeks Rs 500 Crore In Damages From DMK

In response to the legal notice sent by the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) after the release of the 'DMK Files', seeking Rs 500 crore in damages for defamation, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state president K Annamalai has said that he is ready to face legal action.
He also demanded Rs 500 crore and Re 1 in damages from the DMK for associating him with the Arudhra chit fund scam.
Annamalai said that DMK Organising Secretary RS Bharathi had made a baseless allegation that he had received Rs 84 crore from the chit fund.
He added that he wished to donate the money sought in damages to the PM Cares Fund.
At a press meet in Chennai on 14 April, Annamalai provided details of assets owned by the top leaders of the DMK, which were allegedly amassed through corrupt means. He put the figure of their assets at Rs 1.34 lakh crore.
