After TMC MP's Expulsion, Mamata Banerjee Hints At Mahua Moitra Contesting Lok Sabha Elections Again From Krishnanagar

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee criticised the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday (8 December) for the expulsion of Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Mahua Moitra from the Lok Sabha following a debate on cash-for-question allegations.
Banerjee deemed the move "unacceptable" and a "betrayal" of the country's parliamentary democracy. Expressing her disappointment, Banerjee stated, "Today, I am saddened to see the attitude of the BJP party... How they betray democracy. It is a shame for parliamentary democracy. They did not allow Mahua to explain her stand. Full injustice has been done."
Affirming TMC's support for Moitra, the Chief Minister asserted according to Hindustan Times, "They (the BJP) can't defeat us in the election, so they have resorted to vendetta politics. It is a sad day."
Calling Moitra a "victim of circumstances", Banerjee gave a hint that she might contest Lok Sabha elections again from her constituency Krishnanagar.
"Mahua will win the battle. The people will give justice. They (BJP) will be defeated in the next election," Banerjee said. When asked about the chances of Moitra contesting again, she said that she didn't see any reason to not give her a ticket.
After a heated debate over the panel report during which Moitra was not allowed to speak, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi moved a motion to expel the TMC member for 'unethical conduct,' which was adopted by a voice vote.
