BJP's Next Candidate List In Madhya Pradesh Can Cut Tickets Of 40 Per Cent MLAs: Report

After a startling second list of candidates for the Madhya Pradesh elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) next list is anticipated to be more shocking by political observers.
So far, the party has announced the names of 79 candidates, with BJP winning only three of these seats in the previous election. The upcoming list will now decide the fate of current BJP legislators.
According to Amar Ujala, the BJP is likely to cut the tickets of more than 40 per cent of the existing legislators. The selection process prioritises image, caste dynamics, and organisational feedback.
Candidates who exhibit winning potential will be preferred, and those perceived as weak in any aspect will not receive party tickets or find a place on the panel.
At the state level, a list of contenders has been compiled, and surveys, involving 2,000 to 5,000 people in each assembly constituency, have been conducted to determine potential candidates.
The selection criteria include an evaluation of the performance of the current legislator, focusing on developmental work in the constituency. The party is also gauging the lawmaker's accessibility and availability to the public.
Additionally, feedback from the organisation, including district-level officials, is being considered in the decision-making process.
The party aims to give significance to new faces and young candidates. Those existing legislators who do not have serious allegations against them are likely to be retained.
Special focus will be on Other Backward Classes (OBC) candidates owing to their significant presence in the state. Meanwhile, leaders who joined from the Congress with Jyotiraditya Scindia may face troubles in getting a ticket if they fail to align with the BJP's ideology and practices.
Notably, Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to visit Bhopal on 1 October to attend party meetings, take feedback from candidates and discuss strategy. The next list can come out after his visit.
