JP Nadda
JP Nadda said in Rajya Sabha on Thursday (21 September) that the Congress talks about OBCs but the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) gave the country its first OBC Prime Minister.
"Secondly, 27 Ministers and 85 of the 303 BJP MPs, meaning 29 per cent MPs, hail from the OBC community. Similarly, of the 1,358 MLAs, 27 per cent are OBCs. Of the 163 MLCs, 40 per cent are OBCs," he said further.
Nadda mocked the grand-old party by saying that BJP's OBC MPs in Lok Sabha are more in number than the Congress' total number of MPs.
The BJP national president also targeted Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for "abusing the OBC community and refusing to apologise".
Nadda's allegations refer to Gandhi's remark “how come all the thieves have Modi as the common surname?”, for which he was disqualified from Lok Sabha, however, his membership was restored later.
Notably, the Congress leader had asked for the OBC reservation in Lok Sabha yesterday and mentioned that in his research, he found that among 90 secretaries of the country, only three hail from the OBC community.
