Fifteen schools in Bengaluru were thrown into chaos after administrative staff received threatening emails alleging the existence of explosives on their properties.

Karnataka Home Minister Dr G Parameshwara confirmed that they were aware of the threats, noting that similar threats were received last year. "We cannot take any risk, we are inspecting the schools and are taking all precautionary measures in schools," he said.

Dr Parameshwara assured that stringent action would be taken against those behind the threatening emails, stating that they were investigating all possible angles.

Bengaluru Police Commissioner B Dayananda confirmed that no suspicious objects were discovered after anti-sabotage teams scanned the schools.

"At the moment, it appears to be a hoax message. We are conducting a search operation which will be completed soon," he said.

Dayananda appealed to parents not to panic and noted that similar emails were sent to city schools the previous year, hinting at the likelihood of this being the work of miscreants.

The distressing situation stirred worry in parents, educators, and caregivers. As a countermeasure, certain schools moved their pupils to neighbouring parks or other safe places, whereas some schools asked parents and caregivers to collect their kids.
