The Haryana communal violence claimed its sixth life on Wednesday (2 August) when a Bajrang Dal worker, Pradeep Sharma (32), succumbed to his injuries at Delhi's Safdarjung Hospital.

He was critically wounded by rioters in Nuh on Monday, according to District Vice-President of Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP), Surendra Tanwar.

The clashes, which began in Haryana's Nuh, spread to nearby Gurugram on Tuesday. During the unrest, a cleric was killed, an eatery was set on fire, and several shops were ransacked.

In response to the assault on a Vishva Hindu Parishad rally in Nuh, a road was blocked, and shops were closed as a protest.

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar confirmed the sixth casualty and stated that among the victims, two were home guards, and four were civilians.

He mentioned that 116 people have been detained, and efforts are underway to apprehend other culprits. The injured have been taken to various hospitals, including Nalhar in Nuh and Medanta in Gurugram.

CM Khattar emphasized that the government is tracing the plotters and will take strict action against the offenders. He assured that the safety of the common people is their responsibility.

To maintain law and order, 20 companies of central security forces have been stationed in the state, with three in Palwal, two in Gurugram, one in Faridabad, and 14 in Nuh.

Khattar urged the people to remain calm in these challenging times. The authorities are actively working to restore peace and ensure the safety of citizens amidst the ongoing communal violence.

Haryana DGP PK Agrawal assured that no violent incidents have occurred since yesterday and 41 FIRs have been registered.

Meanwhile, around 30 people have gathered under the banner of VHP and Bajrang Dal at Badarpur toll bridge to protest against the violence.
